The condom, the 99% effective contraceptive, is one of the biggest shams of patriarchy! What do you mean by a 99% effective contraceptive, in the first place? And how long has it been around? It’s been eons! How primitive is this little bit of latex! It’s only 99% effective, thank you very much! And how many women get knocked up by the remaining 1% of sperm? In all these decades of massive scientific and technological overhaul, we’re living through the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and we still haven’t gotten past anything in contraception better than the condom? If that’s not yet another sham of patriarchy, then what is it? Tricking women into believing that their being protected, when actually sperm is seeping out into their uterus and impregnating them! This is the best contraceptive we have in all these years of civilisation? And then, when the women “accidentally” (accidentally, you knew 1% was no accident) get pregnant, they have to go for an abortion, and an abortion causes severe damage to a woman’s body. And if the abortion goes badly, the woman can never have children again or worse, it could be fatal. One percent of a difference is huge scientifically speaking! And the worst thing about the whole contracetive problem is that it’s put women in a situation where they are up against their own children, their own kind, one versus the other. That’s right, that’s what patriarchy did, put women up against children in a battle of survival. Sick, sick patriarchy yet again! And then there’s a whole abortion debate about pro-life and pro-choice! Neither is an option because either way it looks to me like the woman looses, unless the woman wants the child. This is what patriarchy wants, keep the women and children engaged in a battle of life and death while the men reign supreme. Belittle the women and children and leave them nothing! Why are we having this debate in the first place? Why don’t we have a fool-proof and easy contraceptive method? Have we not as a people gotten past the primitivism of the condom and been able to give women a fool-proof and easy contraceptive method with the enormity of science and technology that engulfs us? No we haven’t. That’s the repressive and regressive patriarchal apparatus at play! Kudos!
