Now arriving at the question of the woman objectified as a muse. Mahasweta Devi puts this best in one of her stories. A woman working at a construction site is noticed by a photographer for the size of her breasts which caught the attention of all. A huge scandal ensues and someone ends up being killed. The woman’s objectified status as a muse has been obliterated in the twenty-first century. Who better to articulate this than Mahasweta Devi, a dear friend of Mamta Banerjee. Kujo’s outdated stance of yet again depicting the woman as a muse has had the same consequences as was predicted by Mahasweta Devi. Mahasweta Devi gave us the real dynamic hidden beneath the fake glamour of artist-muse showing the exploitative master-slave dialectic at work. Mahasweta Devi wins again. Kujo loses again. Intellectual acumen is clearly not Kujo’s strong point. Depicting the woman as an objectified muse is a dangerous game to play for all and should be avoided at all costs.
