Note to George W. Bush, Shah Rukh Khan and Anoushka Shankar –

Why is the government in Karnataka inept to the extent that it cannot contain the harassment of women, even at night? The sexual harassment cells of I.T. corporations in Bangalore are rich with heavy bulks of sexual harassment allegations from women employees. Even the area in Bangalore reputed to be the safest for women, Koramangala, has not been brought under check by the government. Yet, Bangalore promotes itself to the world as being the safest city in India for women. Why is there such a grave hypocrisy within government bodies in Karnataka? Why does the government not acknowledge the problem openly instead of lying to people about Bangalore’s supposed safety? And if Bangalore is ridden with such problems, why is the government not able, or willing, to address the same problems? In an area of Koramangala that lies a brief walk away from Koramangala Police Station, criminality is unleashed on common people at night. What does the police do at night, sleep? That is not their job. Why does the police display such a lack of moral integrity in the face of protecting the rights of citizens? Why does the government not step in and change the situation, since this is the face of Bangalore at so many levels? Why exactly do we have such a grave failure of governance on the part of the administrative authorities of Karnataka? It is folly in so many ways. Yet, the authorities refuse to step in, do their job or act as necessary. If this is the condition of Bangalore, then where will people in India go? There are no other options for the 1.3 billion in the country. When will the government act as it needs to?  Or will Bangalore decay into the mess that the rest of India has owing to administrative failures?
